Did an experiment with various devices--headphones, a phone beside her head, desktop computer, and the small bluetooth speaker. The spatial displacement was quite noticeable with the desktop and the phone since the sound emanated in a location away from from her. With the headphones the sound came from inside my head and although the sound quality was better and a little more immersive it still didn't feel right. The speaker inside her mouth, in my opinion, was the best option even though there were no movements to accompany the sounds, and the speaker location is not optimal but regular dolls aren't designed for sound. Of course all of this is pretty obvious but just throwing it out there in case someone has a better idea (besides getting an AI doll).
